Borage oil isn't an ingredient we read about often in beauty blogs and magazines, but this unsung hero is the reason our Cuticle Serum has become a must-have for anyone who prizes their manis and pedis.
Borage oil is an extract from the seeds of the Borago officinalis plant, a beautiful annual purple flower, native to the Mediterranean region. The flower is edible, and has a sweet, honey-like flavour, making it popular in desserts and cocktails. It's even used to pickle gherkins! But that's not what we love most about it.
The real reason we love borage oil is for its gamma linolenic acid. This fatty acid helps to reduce inflammation, heals and prevents acne, and helps treat eczema and rosacea. While providing nourishing hydration to dry skin, like cuticles, elbows, and even skin on our faces, borage oil can help heal troubled spots.
We use borage oil in our Cuticle Serum to help hydrate and repair dry, calloused, or inflamed cuticles. We recommend it as an essential part of daily body care, especially in the winter when cold temperatures leave skin particularly dry and chapped. Apply it to cuticles, followed by our Hand Cream before bed and your hands and nails will look happy and hydrated by morning.
