For anyone who's not heard the term, "body burden" refers to the chemicals that have entered your body. And before you brush this off, believe me, you do have chemicals in yours!
They enter through the products you apply to your skin, your hair, the foods and drinks you consume, the cleaning products in your home, even the air you breathe! These chemicals can impact your health in different ways, from skin rashes, to brain fog, even causing cancer and other serious diseases.
Becoming aware of your body burden can feel a bit overwhelming. Suddenly every single chemical in your home looks radioactive! But it's so important, especially when simple swaps and can lead to meaningful improvements in your health.
Here's what I recommend:
Start with baby steps. You don't need to toss every cleaning product, hair gel, or dryer sheet in your home, that would be wasteful.
Do it gradually. You can replace products as you finish them, swapping in new lines formulated with natural, non-toxic ingredients. Or you can focus on a different area of your home each month, and make replacements slowly, so by the end of 2025, you have a healthier home, and a lighter body burden.
Focus on reduction, not total elimination (unless you plan to move to a remote cabin in the woods).
Don't beat yourself up if you can't part with your favourite hair serum or dish soap. The point of body burden awareness is to make thoughtful choices. There are so many incredible, all-natural cleaners on the market that are so simple to swap in.
And when you start replacing your chemical-based products for natural skin care that prioritizes plant-based, highly nourishing ingredients, you'll see how radiant and healthy your skin can become!
